Philly Cheesesteak Sloppy Joes

Philly Cheesesteak Sloppy Joes

Ingredients

  •  1 lb. ground sirloin
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 green bell pepper, chopped
  • 1/4 cup A1 sauce
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • Salt and pepper
  • 4 dinner rolls
  • 1 tbsp. butter
  • 1 tbsp flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup provolone cheese (we used Pepperjack)

Directions:

In a skillet, brown ground sirloin with the onion and green bell over medium high heat.
Drain, if needed.

Add A1, broth, salt and pepper, to taste. Simmer for a few minutes.

In a saucepan over medium heat, melt butter. Whisk in flour and cook for 1 minute.
Add milk and bring to a boil. Let thicken for about 2 minutes.
Remove from heat and add cheese, stir until melted.
Look at all the melty goodness!

Serve meat on buns (toasted if you like) topped with the cheese sauce.

Chili Bar

Chili Bar

Here's a simple idea for serving something easy to a crowd.  I've seen these around, more elaborate in some cases, but.....this fit the needs of some people I invited over a little while back for a sporting event.  I cooked up chili, and hot dogs in a crock pot (I blogged about that yesterday).  I added mini buns, fritoes, crackers, cheese, chopped onions, sour cream, and bowls to fix up a bowl however the mood fit.  I was in the mood for it all.  I'd say it was a success, there was nothing left at the end of the evening, so.....I'll be filing it away for another occasion.  I just love build your own bars.
