Healthy Halloween Snack: Witch Fingers {Recipe}
Ingredients:
- Full-size carrots
- Red apples
- Peanut Butter
- Colored Sparkly Gel {optional}
- peeler
- Depending on whether your children are totally opposed to carrot skin, you can peel the entire carrot or not. If you leave it unpeeled – only a small amount of skin will remain at the end and it really does help “sell” the witch’s knuckles :)
- Cut the carrots into finger-length sections and use the peeler to shape into fingers. Keep in mind knuckles when you are doing this. There should be a flat area where the nail will go. Use the peeler to peel of the apple skin and cut it to look like a nail. You can make the nails rounded or pointed, depending, of course, on your type of witch :) Tip: Once you have finished shaping the finger and nail bed – use the peeler to peel off the bottom of the finger leaving a nice flat surface. This keeps the fingers from rolling all over – of course, that would be kind of creepy!
- Use peanut butter or gel to secure the “nail” in place. You can use a variety of colors and as much as you need/want to get the look you desire.
- Place the apple peel on the peanut butter or gel and you’re done! I created entire hands because I think it’s more creepy like that. They also look great randomly spread out.
- There you have it! Carrot Witch Fingers that are sure to delight any crowd!
